The eight-speed automatic transmission
in the BMW ActiveHybrid 7.

Only the tachometer will reveal how fast and seamlessly the new eight-speed automatic transmission shifts gears. The additional gears reduce the engine's rev interval between shifts, so the transmission process is barely noticeable. The eighth gear reduces the number of revolutions at high speeds, tangibly increasing comfort while reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Also helping to reduce these levels is the Start Stop function which is available for the first time in conjunction with an automatic transmission. Thanks to Steptronic, the gears can also be changed manually for increased sports performance.
